Pretty Muddy

Shropshire women are being urged to fight dirty when it comes to conquering cancer – by signing up now for an exciting new event from Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.

Weston Park has been chosen to host one of just four Race for Life 5K Pretty Muddy events taking place in the Midlands this summer and has been chosen to host the ONLY 10km Pretty Muddy event in the country!

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life family of events also includes the 5k courses which will be taking place in Telford on 31 May and Shrewsbury on 14 June. The Shrewsbury event will be moving to The Quarry in 2015 providing a new course in beautiful town centre setting.

Emily Thompson, Cancer Research UK’s Shropshire Event Manager, said: “Pretty Muddy promises all the fun and camaraderie of our much loved 5k events – just with an extra serving of mud, it will take place for the first time at Weston Park on Saturday 2 May.

Race for Life events are not competitive. They are not about being fit or fast. Women can complete the 5K or Pretty Muddy courses at their own pace, climbing, jumping, walking and laughing their way around. It’s about an army of women coming together in the fight against cancer.

Cancer survival rates have doubled since the 1970s and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress. But more funds and more supporters are needed to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.

Emily continued: “Race for Life is to celebrate those who are with us, and also remember those who are not. The atmosphere is electric, our participants are so inspiring and we’re calling on the women of Shropshire to help make 2015 our best year yet.
